There is so much to that needs to be changed, and only you and I and your neighbors can do it.
85 percent of the entire world population now, before and being born are dumber than a box of rocks. They don't want facts or truth. Its to hard to think, to question.
There are only a hand full of absolute truths relating to humans. And nothing worth a damn stands in isolation of each other. Different events and incidents tie into your life like it or not.
Even though our elected officials prefer you to look at life in isolation. Taxes, immigration, education, health care, national defense. Buzz words, that get discussed separately are all inter connected. Not because I say so, but because they are. There is only so much energy, time, money available for items or policies, and even if you discuss them separately, the decisions about what to do about one impacts an other.
Just a reminder, I am a MODERATE middle of the road Republican. I like money. I vote for what I think is best for ME. But I like to think that in considering what is best for me, helping other people that I don't know will benefit me in the long term. I point this out because lately my political leanings are decidedly democratic. That is only as long as their platform helps ME.
The next time you hear the "Tea Skank " party or any party talk about too much regulation ruining the economy, remind them that Clinton a democrate removed more regulations that Bush 2.0 ( Jr) had a chance to do. That along with tax INCREASES had the highest projected budget increase in the last 50 years. However reality set in and the 85 percent rule took control The reduction of controls along with the none enforcement of the controls lead to this depression ( stop calling it a recession )
Bush Jr. removed more important regulations allowing the damage to be more server than did his Daddy Bush senior or Reagan and proving that he Bush Jr. could do lots more harm with less than did Clinton.
I know I said this already, but its very important and its needed to remove the myths being passed around in political folk law. Lending money when a person or company pretty much cant pay it back and they pretty much tell you they cant pay it back is stupid, stupidity beyond belief, but we did that. Gave it fancy names and continued to do it.
But My blog my target of the day. Everyone's favorite topic, gas prices. I love the "drill if you love America crowd" lets deal with reality. If you believe we should get ever ounce of oil out of the ground, hey that is your opinion, but even you need to deal with reality. Think about this, this isn't because I say so, this is reports by your God Fearing Oil companies and some very simple math.
About 80 percent of all the oil leaving Alaska never sees the US shores once it leave Alaska, because the true patriots of the oil industry are soooo very freedom loving that the oil gets sold over seas, so no matter how much they drill in Alaska, our prices will not come down, get over it.
We Americans should be proud of our selves, ( although I understand why its not being talked up ) We in the US are finally using less oil now than we did 2 years ago. Yes fuel efficiency and conservation we are using less fuel, in fact we are now increasing our exports and we have idle refinery capacity because we cant use all the refined oil out there. Be proud America. And those prices that have slipped all the way back to 3.65 a gallon??? Well not in New York or most of California, but in "Dumb Brain USA". they have dropped????
I picked prices pretty much looking for the high price of oil and than average of gas in the US.
in the year 2000 oil was $58.87 per barrel and gasoline at the pump was $ 1.80
Forward to 2011 a barrel of oil is roughly 88.82 and gasoline is $4.00 a gallon. Inflation from the year 2000 to 2011 all added up is 33 percent.
The price of a barrel of oil went up 34 % the price of gasoline went up 55 % and inflation went up 33 %percent. Ask the drill baby drill team why adjusting for inflation gas should only cost $2.39 not $ 4.00.
Oh wait its OPEC, those foreign Muslims Communist Terrorist Nazis driving up the price of OUR oil and gasoline. But, last time any one checked, we get 80 percent of our oil from ( wait for it ) Canada, With about 10 percent from Mexico, Venezuela ( yes the commie bast...d) and about 10 percent from across the ocean with a good piece from Nigeria. How does 10 or even 20 percent of our oil supplied by people who hate us equate with 88 to 100 dollars a barrel for oil ??? Well even our bestest friends ever, who love us to pieces, believe in the American free market system, so who ever pays the most gets the oil. Even Canada ayyy... sells it at what ever they can get.
Now before you 5 percent dumber hop into your pick up trucks and head north "...ta teech dem heathen Cannedaduns a lesson" keep in mind the oil in Oklahoma and Texas, etc is also leaving our shores for the top dollar too. While your at it, you should be asking why, the price of natural gas which is almost entirely collected right hear in the Good ol US of A, goes up ever time OPEC raises its prices
So what has this to do with politics??? Your didn't really ask that did you ? Beyond the energy industry buying the votes of our elected officials at ever level of government. These people ( if they weren't bought ) could legislate taxes on excessive revenue collected by energy companies. Yes I know that was suggested before and the politicians voted it down...gee I wonder why??
The politicians can decide what is a fair price considering it is a monopoly , yes it is, don't get into that.
They can fund alternative energy to remove the need for fossil fuels. They can push other industry to find higher efficiency products, in transportation as well as manufacturing, and give those that do it, tax benefits.
Remember everything is tied together ; circular....health care, transportation, education etc....doesn't go any where in an industrial society without energy. Provide cheaper energy be it oil or renewable, and there is more money for ( health care, education etc) And that is why you need to realize that it all ties together and why the people who you will be voting for need to tell you the entire truth. Not just what they want you to hear. If they don't tell the whole story, look it up, find out. This is your lives and your children. If you don't mind the prospect of your grand children selling souvenirs of the statue of liberty and old white house, to tourist from China and India, along the road side, than allow the lassie fare politicians to control our government. There is NO one style of government or economic policy that is perfect, it needs to blended. Its not easy, but that is who we need in office....all the offices.
The energy industry is not going to fix it because most of them are in the 85 percent or dumber. Remember greed is dumb. Destroying the source of your income is dumb, pricing yourself out of a market is dumb. Lest you forget one of the oil industries excuses for their tax perks and subsides is because YOU commie terrorist in America decided to conserve, their revenues dropped and they lost money....god damn you people !!!! No I'm not joking, not that any one on there right mind believed this reason , but it did work for them. However it is proof that they the oil and the energy industry hold a special place in the trophy room for the "dumber than" category. Yet they continue because they are smart enough to buy our elected officials. Get this straight, they dont make tons of money because they are so smart, they make tons of money because they sell a product we need, that a vast majority of the population needs, they are smart enough to buy the people who control you and me. But smart would be a balanced approach and keeping this gravey train of selling energy going for ever. Possible moving enough wealth so that more people could buy the products, adding more wealth to the economy and even the idiots in Exxon.
Watch the pundent or politico who mentions, " well they only make about 2 cents profit a gallon" That sounds really small doesn't it. Its 2 cent on the gasoline which is about 391 million gallons ever day or $7,820,000 a day ever day 365 days a year. It does not include the money made on other fuels and lubricants and by products its the profit on gasoline. I know how hard it would be for you or I to live on one percent of that????
It all goes back to my fundamental request that YOU think, and find out what you are voting for before you vote. And that you do vote.... Do not give them the satisfaction of staying home. Vote for some one any one. If you don't like the candidates vote for the communist, the liberal Ottoman empire candidate but cast a vote. Let the politicians start to worry, that we are coming back and we are asking tough questions. It probable wont happen in our life time, but lets give this gift to our children and those that follow, the gift of candidates who care about us.

Reality, why does it keep getting in the way?
My apology in advance if the repeating of certain statements annoys you. Actually I don't apologize but it sounds nice. The repeating is a method to reinforce the concept of the 85 percent rule; 85 percent of all people are dumber than a box of rocks with 5 percent dumber than that.
And I would dare to say many people disagree with those statements, however, human nature just continues to prove me right. Remember dumb is you deliberately ignore facts or truth. Ignorant means you have not learned something, and lord knows we all have experienced that condition. Often the information is not available to individuals. You can not or should not blame a person who has not the opportunity to become aware of facts.
But we humans , have a tendency to stick with the dumb because its easy!!!. Its nice not to accept responsibility for our own actions, or to some extent the action of others who are supposed to be taking direction from us. Its easy to be dumb...because everyone else is doing that, why shouldn't I ? Being dumb because we listened to ..so and so he/she is an expert and they said X. There are so many dumb things going on, but we have to do this one blog at a time.
Every ones favorite the lie of omission, or " facts, we dun ned no stinken facts !!"
Government regulation is stopping our economy from growing and is the cause of high unemployment !!! ( Everybody knows that !)
As with so much this is not completely wrong, but the blanket statement without further exploration is what makes it so dumb. Here if the politician really believes this, they are in the 5 percent dumber than the 85 percent. They are supposed to know better. If as I suspect they don't believe that but are saying it because it plays to the 85 percenters than basically they are lying to you and counting on you being so stupid as not to know any better.
I have to repeat another very important concept and toss it into this mix. Everything is tied together, all events are circular that is, that one event impacts other things even if you don't realize it immediately. This is important and a problem because we are typically given information in a singular format, myopic, blinder, how to you want to say, we are only fed pieces of the information. " Corn is good" " Poor people are stupid"
The root to the approach is the belief that we....you and I are not capable or deep thought on most any subject. The 15 minute attention span. the use of sound bites because we don't stay focused.
As with so much, this is sometimes true, but because it works to the advantage of those in power, they are trying to make it fact for everything, especially what they say to us!!! When was the last time you heard an in dept news report unless you watch a hour or more long news show ( a specialty show not the normal news broadcast ) . How often have you heard and interview cut off on important items because the time was up or it was time for a commercial. Have you ever heard a reporter ask " Where did you get those facts or that information?"
There is a belief, rather a hope, that if you say something often enough it becomes true. Even if its a complete lie....the hope is that repeating it often, will convince a large majority of the population that something is true. If you format your media presentation to the short sound bite, you are training the general population to accept ( as normal ) sound bites as fact. And you better believe the politicians know this and use this. And if you or I believe this, buy into it as truth, than we have slipped into the dumber than 85 percent, because we know this attention span issue is not science fact. It applies to humans dependant on the subject matter; period! I sure if important issues are reported in depth with facts in that report, than people even the majority will listen to that information.
But this statement ( government regulation is the problem with the economy ) which is becoming an election talking point either as used to redirect the voting public from real issues, and or to deflect real issues from discussion I use this statement as an example of political speak that is damaging and counter productive.
The problem with government regulations is two fold. the redundancy of some regulation, and the none enforcement of those regulation. Government regulation on different aspects of our economy go through cycles. From the point of the regulations that do damage and industry to the point of regulations are a joke having no impact or use. We need to have a happy medium to were regulations protect the public and the employees, while not having a major impact on the cost of operation of that industry. Enforcement of regulations, remove redundent ones, make it clear how to follow them, (clean them up) And remove those regulations and rules that no longer apply or do more damage than good to the general population.
Remember the "everything is circular concept " If humans were not so stupid, we wouldn't need so many regulations. If the 85 percent rule wasn't true, owners and operators would realize that safe operation of your business was good for everyone including the owner. But that's is not the case and some people are stupid. Governments, because they are also stupid, create regulations with a shot gun or turn around and say because some people don't care about safety or honest operations everyone will operate this way.
Than some government people realize that regulations are a nice way to get money, so rather than call it a tax they put on another regulation that you end up paying for.
The other side of the discussion, is the government regulations are telling industry, "no you can not dump the completely toxic chemicals your plant produce on the vacant land next to the housing complex"
Those company leaders know full well the materials do not stay put and travel, but its cheaper and easier to dump it, so because some of the companies do not care, the government says all of you prove to me that you are safely disposing of your waste."
The rules and regulations in the financial markets, were put in place because humans are stupid, greed is stupidity. The reason could be a volume of costly books but Greed is stupid. And the people running the financial markets might well know math and numbers but they are no smarter than you or I and in some cases the greed makes them dumber. Directing how and when money and how much can be moved where and when are done because the government knows all that money makes humans do stupid things. The problem is the lack of regulation enforcement. The rules set up, and not enforced. This depression ( I refuse to call it a recession when it impacts the world ).... as you learn about it, was not unforeseen. In many many cases the people who are supposed to warn the companies of the bad loans , etc. Many many did the job of trying to warn the people they worked for and were ignored, because for a time money was being made. ( People are stupid )
Just a very general look at the mortgages in the United States does not add up to the money lost.
Simple quick example if 100 people borrow 100 dollars that is 10,000 loaned out, at ten percent interest
that is 11,000 dollars owed to the bank So if ever one of those 100 people do not pay there loan the lost money is 11000. and actually the 1000 dollars is the expected profit not the lost money. But what happened is the reported amount came back at lets say 25,000 dollars. Where did that come from. Well the first back KNEW that a certain number of those loans should NEVER Have been made they were bad loans to people who 99 percent likely could never pay them back....but the first loaner sold the loan to some one else who paid the first bank there 10 percent...The second bank now tacked on 12 percent interest ... and so on selling to a third bank and a fourth... the game of super dumb hot potato... who is the last person holding the bad loans. The money all the companies claim to have lost is far exceeding what could possible have been borrowed. There were not that many people borrowing money and not that many people not paying back the money... but selling the loans to other stupid people the dollar amount on those loans went up. Finally some one asked for there money, blink.... depression oops sorry economic down turn.
Well guess what, had the regulations been enforced this would not have happened. If regulations said you can only provide loans on 2 percent of know bad risk this could not have happened.
Had the government regulation been enforced that when a company down sizes and goes over seas for TAX BREAKS it retrains the work force it FIRED or laid off, than fewer people would be unemployed and there would be a better tax base meaning fewer cuts to government jobs.
Nor does the fact that Europe has many if not more regulations, but still has a higher gpa ( I'm most cases) than the U.S. impact the discussion here. Politicians do not want YOU to ask questions about the truth. Sure if you don't mind poisoning your people and killing them much like China and India... you can have 9 percent growth. And if you don't mind rat poison in baby formula you can have low unemployment like china. But government regulation is not the problem... and any one who says that and believes that should not be breathing the rest of us air. Correct them please ... enforcement of regulation and reduction of redundant or in some cases rules no longer needed is the issue... Possible feeding greedy financial people to rabid and starving sharks would help the economy ...but that has to wait until you elect me
In the mean time, when any one "quotes" political speak as a reason to vote for some one, ask if they did a fact check. Or laugh at them, which ever works for you.

Politicians; you know they are lying because their mouth moved
Every thing relates to the 85 percent rule, including the political problems we face now. My goal, my purpose, is to get the average person, the citizens of this country to think ! I'm not looking for people to agree with my opinions, but I do want people to think through their own decisions based on the available information.
There is absolute truth. You or I might not agree with it or like that concept, but there is absolute truth.
The speed of light is a constant ( at least for now) we can discuss methods of going around it, warping it, but the speed of light is a constant. People who believed the sun revolved around the earth truly believed that. The evidence was pretty clear, they were wrong. The phrase in vogue now is that truth is in the perception. That is what people believe to be true ; perceive to be true, is actually true at least for those people. Sounds nice, but its pure bull. Just because something is perceived to be true does not make it so. If every person on this planet believed that the sun revolved around the earth, it still would not make it true. What it would do is help prevent further discovery into fact, and it would make the 5 percent dumber than the 85 percent very happy not to have to think, but its still not true. And the importance of that is, some issues, you don't have to worry about the absolute truth. It doesn't impact your life very much or others around you. So you don't have to sweat the absolute truth. However when dealing with issue that do impact how you live or will live, or how future generations will live, well than you should be as close to absolute truth as you can get before you decide a course of action.
In the name of disclosure. I consider may self a Moderate Republican. I like money, I like stocks, I like profits, however I recognize the need to compromise to get me that money and profits. I have voted republican since 1970, some times just because the word republican was next to the name. (Remember we all slip into the 85 percent ) Didn't vote Democrat until I realized George Bush 2.0 was a spoiled ego theistic puppet. I Wanted McCain but he went over to the republican cultist. So I hope that President Obama could make a difference. He did, just not the one we need to operate this nation effectively
People who use the statement " Every body knows that " are ok as long as they themselves don't believe the statement. Its a nice fill in or stall the conversation statement but not true. Our Politicians our elected officials our appointed officials, those who govern or rule us. They should be held to a higher standard. The position they hold, is supposed to be a position of authority for Something. And when they make statements, not telling us all the facts, or knowingly distorting the facts. When they they use statements by others and leave out portions; they are lying to us. Not a missed communication, its a lie. When they know something, but tell you something else, its a lie. When, they have something important to bring to our attention and speak in generalities, well that's not a lie, but they are bordering on it by trying to pull our focus from the important issues they don't want "us" to think about.
When a certain Texas governor tells the voting public that " His state didn't take any bail out money " and does not add " we didn't take it this time" that my friends is a lying to you. When he doesn't tell you about several tens of millions he took a few months prior, that makes it a lie. When he tells you how "He created jobs" but doesn't add that A) many of those jobs will disappear because of budget cuts in Sept. 2011 B) most of the jobs are created in the government sector, the sector that Republicans say we should make smaller. Well its not a lie, but it fudging the truth. When a female candidate, talks about cutting government spending but refuses to discuss her personal farm subsidies, you should wonder what government spending does she want to cut. When a sitting president is doing a town hall meeting and he is telling the crowd how they have held back inflation, he really should send his staff down the block ( literally) to look at the price of gasoline or the grocery store to look at produce.
The United States borrowing cap is a good example of perception (not based on fact,) but doesn't make it true. We have had the debt limit cap for almost 50 years. I has not been held to in almost 50 years. The nations that loan us money have an unrealistic perception that the debt limit cap has some value. Especially since most of the nations who do loan us money do not have a debt cap. Unfortunately that perception must be met. Yes I realize that I just finished saying perception is not truth, however the reality of the world, makes it important to continue this perception/deception until such time as it can be comfortable proven to be a lie. Not that debt ceilings are bad, no no ... I think they are great, but if you don't use them, they are more damaging than not having them. Witness the fiasco in Washington DC these past months. Our elected officials wasted valuable time arguing over raising the cap.
On how many levels was this insane, border line criminal.
We had a theocratic lunatic fringe ( Tea Party ) who signed and oath not to raise taxes. How do we justify not raising the cap, because like it or not WE spent the money. Both houses are guilty of spending that money. Our elected officials put a rule into being and ignore it.

Don't tell the voting public, that we have to drill in every location in the US...especially since the oil is not guaranteed to stay in the US. How many voters realize that about 80 percent of the oil drilled in Alaska never reaches U.S shores but heads right to Japan or China because they pay more. Why does the price of natural gas go up in sync with oil. We don't get gas from OPEC. Do your elected officials tell you the voter the electric companies are paying more for coal because more of it is leaving America and headed over seas.
So much of drilling and digging to reduce our dependence. I really don't care. Its money in America pockets, but I do care about the lie of omission. When these Flag waving, chest thumping SOB's we elected do not tell you the truth. Tell Americans we need to drill so we can sell more oil to China, and send the coal there.
The same elected officials who are saying government regulation are stopping America's growth have left out, the de -regulation which a Democrat Clinton really pushed, got us into the mess we are in the last 8 years. Of course they all both parties leave out the fact that the regulations were for the most part over looked prior to de regulation. But the unbridled moving of money by... ( wait for it ) 85 percenters, is why the world economy tanked. Put your pundits on the air to come up with really niffty sounding excuses. The reality is we let really dumb people handle money and play hot potato...pass the bad loans and hope you dont get caught. Except unlike the hot potato of your youth, each pass of bad loans, more interest was added...the potato got bigger with each purchase of the loan. And no one said STOP this makes no sense.
Do you really thing China and India are smarter than the West??? If you have a billion people who you dont pay, really dont care if they are alive tomorrow or not, dont care if you create huge toxic waste lands in the middle of a budding community, you too can have 9 percent growth in this world economy. Dont trust me, read about what is going on over there. But our politicians see the dollar bills and want to create the same thing. Well we know they are dumber than a rock, but are you. Are you buying what they are selling.
400 years ago we didn't try to convert the indians because we loved them we wanted to control them.
We fought a civil war as much about economic decision as freeing slaves which was an after thought. Mexico really did own Texas but we made out real good taking it away. Native Americans were not necessarily peace loving people who communed with nature, They just were not very efficient at killing each other....possible wiped out several hundred species of nature, and were not to fussy about killing their brothers for the white man, for a price. Much like a good portion of the slave trade was carried on by blacks on blacks than sold to whites. There were alot more slaves in the central and south America than ever reached north of the Rio Grande, but than that is the reality of the situation. Not very pretty, nor nice ... nor more important is it a justification for poor action now in 2011, but it is reality. And none of us are going to fix anything unless we deal with reality.
The people who you really like... you just hear and see them and you want to vote for them. Ok just do some research and make sure the reality is as good as the dream. Just be in the 5 percent normal one day at a time. Lets take it back its ours any way

There is absolute truth. You or I might not agree with it or like that concept, but there is absolute truth.
The speed of light is a constant ( at least for now) we can discuss methods of going around it, warping it, but the speed of light is a constant. People who believed the sun revolved around the earth truly believed that. The evidence was pretty clear, they were wrong. The phrase in vogue now is that truth is in the perception. That is what people believe to be true ; perceive to be true, is actually true at least for those people. Sounds nice, but its pure bull. Just because something is perceived to be true does not make it so. If every person on this planet believed that the sun revolved around the earth, it still would not make it true. What it would do is help prevent further discovery into fact, and it would make the 5 percent dumber than the 85 percent very happy not to have to think, but its still not true. And the importance of that is, some issues, you don't have to worry about the absolute truth. It doesn't impact your life very much or others around you. So you don't have to sweat the absolute truth. However when dealing with issue that do impact how you live or will live, or how future generations will live, well than you should be as close to absolute truth as you can get before you decide a course of action.
In the name of disclosure. I consider may self a Moderate Republican. I like money, I like stocks, I like profits, however I recognize the need to compromise to get me that money and profits. I have voted republican since 1970, some times just because the word republican was next to the name. (Remember we all slip into the 85 percent ) Didn't vote Democrat until I realized George Bush 2.0 was a spoiled ego theistic puppet. I Wanted McCain but he went over to the republican cultist. So I hope that President Obama could make a difference. He did, just not the one we need to operate this nation effectively
People who use the statement " Every body knows that " are ok as long as they themselves don't believe the statement. Its a nice fill in or stall the conversation statement but not true. Our Politicians our elected officials our appointed officials, those who govern or rule us. They should be held to a higher standard. The position they hold, is supposed to be a position of authority for Something. And when they make statements, not telling us all the facts, or knowingly distorting the facts. When they they use statements by others and leave out portions; they are lying to us. Not a missed communication, its a lie. When they know something, but tell you something else, its a lie. When, they have something important to bring to our attention and speak in generalities, well that's not a lie, but they are bordering on it by trying to pull our focus from the important issues they don't want "us" to think about.
When a certain Texas governor tells the voting public that " His state didn't take any bail out money " and does not add " we didn't take it this time" that my friends is a lying to you. When he doesn't tell you about several tens of millions he took a few months prior, that makes it a lie. When he tells you how "He created jobs" but doesn't add that A) many of those jobs will disappear because of budget cuts in Sept. 2011 B) most of the jobs are created in the government sector, the sector that Republicans say we should make smaller. Well its not a lie, but it fudging the truth. When a female candidate, talks about cutting government spending but refuses to discuss her personal farm subsidies, you should wonder what government spending does she want to cut. When a sitting president is doing a town hall meeting and he is telling the crowd how they have held back inflation, he really should send his staff down the block ( literally) to look at the price of gasoline or the grocery store to look at produce.
The United States borrowing cap is a good example of perception (not based on fact,) but doesn't make it true. We have had the debt limit cap for almost 50 years. I has not been held to in almost 50 years. The nations that loan us money have an unrealistic perception that the debt limit cap has some value. Especially since most of the nations who do loan us money do not have a debt cap. Unfortunately that perception must be met. Yes I realize that I just finished saying perception is not truth, however the reality of the world, makes it important to continue this perception/deception until such time as it can be comfortable proven to be a lie. Not that debt ceilings are bad, no no ... I think they are great, but if you don't use them, they are more damaging than not having them. Witness the fiasco in Washington DC these past months.
